About Sujiko
Surat Jilla Kolibandhu Samaj – Mumbai also known as SUJIKO-Mumbai is a non-profit charitable Organization. It was founded in 1946 and registered as a public trust on 09-05-1953 vide P.T. Regd. No. A-1440 (Bombay). The motto of the association has been remaining manifold progress of the Gujarati speaking Hindu Koli Community of Surat Jilla of Gujarat.

Veteran genius Ranchhodji Bhikhabhai Makhanwahla, one of the founder members of SUJIKO-Mumbai donated a Flat in MUMBAI – SANTACRUZ WEST, which proved to be a milestone in the history of the association and established a firm foundation of the association SUJIKO-Mumbai.
In order to achieve the goal the donated accommodation was changed into students Hostel. Late Ranchhodji Makhanwahla has served and guided the association initially for a couple of years and established a strong unity & harmony within the Gujrati Koli Community.

The followers then after extended the activities of the association. In addition to providing hostel accommodation to students, the association started social activities like financial help to the deserving families for cremation of demise, providing study materials to the students etc.

All the activities of the organization are administered and organized by energetic and enthusiastic volunteers from the community. In order to bring a formal objective order into the working of the organization, a constitution was presented to the general body and was passed in December 1982. Committee members are elected each year for two year term.

One of the important activities the association has initiated was arranging collective marriage ceremony. Although for a period till 2009 the activities of the association were not on a larger scale, the period then after is now witnessing a big leap in starting new activities. The new team of management is visionary and planning to expand the association’s activities in various fields of social life of our Gujarati Koli community.

SUJIKO-Mumbai has recently launched matrimony services for community members (Yuvak-Yuvati Sammelan) in order to find appropriate life partner (husband-wife). The first such gathering was arranged on 6th January and second on 31st March, 2013. Both were of great success with spontaneous support of the community people. The association assures the community to continue this activity in future. The association has used latest technology like in this activity and now come to you on internet.

SUJIKO-Mumbai is providing A4 size long book of 200 pages to students at half of the market rate.
SUJIKO-Mumbai is providing Certificate of Caste and Minority Certificates to Gujarati speaking member free of cost. The association is planning to provide more help to the students of the community in the forms of school fees, cash awards and notebooks from the next academic year.
